The skin around the eyes is thinner compared to other areas, and since sebaceous glands are not well-developed, it lacks moisture. This leads to a loss of skin elasticity, making wrinkles appear more easily. Even with consistent moisturizing and anti-aging skincare, you might eventually notice wrinkles spreading in all directions, like parched land.

Especially in middle age, common signs of aging include not only under-eye wrinkles but also hollowness and sagging of the under-eye fat, leading to prominent under-eye bags and dark circles. These protruding fat pockets can make one look grumpy and older. Fortunately, these symptoms can be resolved simply and effectively through under-eye wrinkle removal surgery, so there's no need to worry.

Once under-eye wrinkles appear, they are not easy to improve and take a long time to manage. Under-eye wrinkle removal surgery is not a one-size-fits-all approach, as the degree of under-eye sagging and wrinkles, skin condition, and amount of fat vary from person to person. Instead, a personalized method is applied through a 1:1 consultation. If skin laxity is not severe, an incision is made inside the eyelid to locate the fat pad, and the fat within is spread and fixed. If skin laxity is severe, the inner conjunctiva of the eye is opened with a laser or high-frequency device, and the fat is removed. In some cases, both methods may be performed concurrently as needed.

Many people worry about scars after surgery. Since under-eye wrinkle removal surgery is performed through an incision inside the eyelid, not on the outer skin, there is no burden of visible scars. During the surgery, a corneal protective eye shield is worn to protect the eyeball, making the procedure even safer. Excellent results can be expected if you have severe under-eye wrinkles that create shadows, severe under-eye skin sagging that makes you look older, prominent under-eye fat that gives a fierce impression, severe dark circles that make you look tired, or if your lower eyelashes poke your eyes. Not only the skin but also the muscles are pulled upwards, allowing you to maintain a smooth and youthful appearance for a long time, and improving uneven under-eyes to be flat and bright.

When performing lower blepharoplasty, which is under-eye wrinkle removal surgery, excessive muscle resection or extending the incision medially can increase the risk of nerve damage, leading to ectropion (a condition where the eyelid turns outward). Therefore, to prevent such side effects, it is advisable to perform lower blepharoplasty together with lateral canthopexy. Lateral canthopexy, which fixes the sagging skin tissue and muscles around the eye to the outer periosteum, reduces this risk and can completely resolve severe under-eye sagging that cannot be addressed by lower blepharoplasty alone. Even if ectropion occurred after a previous lower blepharoplasty, revision surgery is possible with lateral canthopexy.
