[Diva Plastic Surgery] Middle-aged Eye Surgery for Aging, Improved with Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty

Hello. This is Diva Plastic Surgery.^^

As we age, natural aging processes lead to various changes.

Among these, the eyes are the area where aging progresses most rapidly,

as the skin thins and loses elasticity over time.

This can cause the upper and lower eyelids to sag and under-eye fat to protrude,

leading to a dull complexion or making one look older.

To improve these signs of aging, such as sagging eyelids and drooping outer corners of the eyes,

we can apply upper and lower blepharoplasty.

This method can resolve under-eye sagging and wrinkles simultaneously,

resulting in younger, more elastic eyes.^^

If your eyelids sag and obstruct your vision,

or if drooping outer eye corners make you look older,

if you get forehead wrinkles when you open your eyes,

or if you always look tired and depressed,

you can expect even better improvement.^^

Our solution not only improves eyelid sagging but also

creates a double eyelid line that best suits your eye shape.

Furthermore, after the solution, you can achieve a refreshed and clearer impression,

and even improve forehead wrinkles that appear every time you open your eyes.^^

Especially for the solutions performed at our clinic,

through precise diagnosis and thorough consultation,

we apply the method best suited for each individual,

ensuring highly satisfying results.

Middle-aged Eye Surgery for Aging, Improved with Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty

Aging is a natural phenomenon, but distinct signs of aging in noticeable areas can be distressing. Especially during the dry winter and spring seasons, facial wrinkles become more prominent, leading to an increase in people seeking to improve them.

The eyes, where aging progresses most rapidly, experience thinning skin and loss of elasticity over time. Visible sagging of the upper and lower eyelids leads to high demand for middle-aged eye surgeries such as eyelid ptosis surgery, under-eye sagging surgery, and under-eye wrinkle removal surgery.

Surgical methods to improve eyelid sagging include ‘upper blepharoplasty’ and ‘lower blepharoplasty’. Upper blepharoplasty is a representative eyelid ptosis surgery suitable for those whose double eyelid line has become blurred or vision narrowed due to sagging eyelids, or who look older due to changes in eye shape caused by aging. It is an effective anti-aging procedure.

Eyelid ptosis correction is not simply about cutting off eyelid skin; it requires localized correction depending on the degree of sagging. After assessing the extent of eyelid sagging and the state of aging, the amount of eyelid skin to be removed is determined, and an incision is made along the double eyelid line.

After removing the sagging skin and protruding fat, the levator palpebrae superioris muscle is located and connected to the skin, then meticulously sutured to create clear and refreshed eyes that suit the patient's face. By tightening the levator palpebrae superioris, the muscle responsible for opening the eye, the fundamental problem of eyelid sagging is addressed, leading to positive reviews for upper blepharoplasty.

Lower blepharoplasty is suitable for individuals who need under-eye wrinkle correction, sagging correction, or fat removal, depending on their individual aging symptoms. It is recommended for middle-aged eye surgery when severe under-eye wrinkles create a shadowed appearance, making one look older, or when under-eye fat is prominent and needs to be removed.

This type of under-eye wrinkle removal surgery involves incising the lower eyelid according to individual symptoms, removing sagging skin and protruding fat, then pulling the loosened muscle and fixing it to the fascia, and suturing it from the inside of the eye. By performing the surgery with minimal incision through the inner fascia of the lower eyelid, lower blepharoplasty scars are not visible, and an under-eye lifting effect can also be achieved.

Reviews of lower blepharoplasty sometimes mention side effects like ectropion (eversion of the eyelid). To prevent such side effects, or in cases where severe under-eye sagging makes improvement difficult with lower blepharoplasty alone, lateral canthoplasty is performed concurrently.

Lateral canthoplasty is a surgical method that fixes the sagging skin tissue and muscles around the eyes to the outer periosteum. It is suitable for severe under-eye sagging that cannot be resolved with lower blepharoplasty alone and helps with eye area lifting by firmly fixing the under-eye muscles or lateral canthal tendon to the periosteum.

Dr. Kim Jong-myung, CEO of Diva Plastic Surgery (board-certified plastic surgeon), stated, ‘Eyelid sagging due to aging requires different surgical methods depending on the individual's eye condition. Therefore, rather than just considering cheap upper blepharoplasty costs or lower blepharoplasty prices, it is crucial to undergo customized surgery based on an accurate diagnosis by experienced medical staff.’
